Deborah is a student in the department of medical laboratory science at the University of Calabar, Calabar, Nigeria. She hails from Ifiah King Duke in Akpabuyo Local Government Area of Cross River State in Nigeria. Deborah had served as assistant senior school prefect at Christian High School, Calabar, where she honed her leadership skills. Also, she attended Seisty Ventures, Calabar, where she acquired skills in computer appreciation through a diploma program.

Deborah’s short-term goals are to complete her program in medical laboratory science with distinction, gaining a solid foundation for future academic and professional pursuits, and enhancing her public speaking, critical thinking and practical experiences. Her long-term goals are to pursue a career in medical laboratory science, address complex challenges, make a positive impact, foster cross-cultural understanding, promote social justice, and contribute to initiatives that benefit humanity, aligning with the values of the Augustine Udefa Speaking Scholarship. Her hobbies are writing, traveling and reading.

Deborah says, “The Augustine Udefa Speaking Scholarship Competition represents an invaluable opportunity for me to refine my communication skills, amplify my voice, and connect with like-minded individuals. I am eager to contribute to and ultimately become a more effective advocate for positive change.”

Ibiangake Ezekiel Akpan is a student of dental surgery at the University of Calabar, Nigeria. He has strong leadership skills and a passion for quality healthcare. Ibiangake is also a talented fashion designer who values collaboration and meaningful relationships.

Nkoyo Asuquo Nyong is a student of medical laboratory science at the University of Calabar, Calabar, Nigeria. She participated in the Nigerian Medical Laboratory Science Students Association Dean’s Cup and was the best female player of the tournament. Nkoyo’s goal is to gain practical experience in medical laboratory science and to contribute to saving lives. She is interested in building a strong network of peers and professionals in her field. Nkoyo loves reading, sports, music, writing and traveling.
